Meet our Principal

I am honoured and privileged to have been appointed as the next Principal of Kew High School, a proud co-educational government school. I have joined a learning community that has welcomed me warmly. The care and the deliberately supportive relationships are evident in almost every interaction I have had with students, staff and with parents.

The values of the school are; Accountability, Social Equity, Participation, Integrity, Respect, Excellence. These align to the school motto; ASPIRE, Strive, Achieve and they truly are the lived experience of the staff and students of the school and they guide the vision of the school. Students are challenged to reach their potential in a diverse and rigourous curriculum that promotes a holistic education across the six year journey through the school.

Kew High School supports high academic standards with an emphasis on positive relationships and student wellbeing. Students value the interactions that they have with their teachers and understand the importance of the feedback cycle in learning. All students participate in the Connect program that promotes students connections to each other and supports every student to find their own place in the school.

The teachers at Kew High School are deeply committed to the process of evaluating their instructional practice in order to continuously improve teaching and learning. Teachers know that in every classroom, every learner is valued and every learner is supported to progress through the curriculum at their own point of understanding. High achieving students are catered for in every classroom at Kew High School, creating a culture of critical and creative thinking across the school.

Students at Kew High School are able to participate in a wide range of co-curricular and enrichment programs. The School Production is an extraordinary highlight in the school calendar and students lead all aspects of production and performance. Kew High School students are able to compete in a wide variety of team sports through School Sports Victoria. Many students also choose to participate in the popular Volleyball program which enjoys national and international success. The Music and Arts programs experience high demand across the school and cater for all capabilities. Participation is high and this is evident through the huge range of displays, concerts and presentations throughout the school year.

Kew High School has an established culture of excellence in which both staff and students aspire to reach their potential in the wide range of curricular and co-curricular areas. This culture of excellence at Kew High School has been built and led by an extraordinary educator. Clare Entwistle’s legacy at Kew High School, and her influence on high quality public education, will continue for many years to come. In this school community that respects and recognises outstanding achievement, we look forward to coming together so that staff, students, parents and the wider community may celebrate her amazing career.

I invite you to explore the Kew High School website. I hope that you gain the sense, as I have done, that this is a caring community that delivers a high-quality, inclusive education.
