Online Learning at Kew High School

Kew High School’s strong IT infrastructure and ICT support team has enabled a smooth transition to remote learning for both staff and students.

Late in Term 2 Kew High School staff discussed and developed remote learning protocols. A clear and simple plan was developed which involved using established platforms to publish lesson plans and learning goals and to communicate with students during lessons. Staff accessed further training to enable effective delivery of the teaching and learning program in order to actively engage students.

A Remote Learning Handbook formalised the approach to remote learning and was shared with the school community. Throughout Term 2, the school’s Leadership teams have been meeting regularly to identify and share successes and challenges. A responsive and flexible approach has ensured that at Kew High School, we meet the learning and wellbeing needs of our students.

Formal feedback from students, parents and staff has been and will continue to be collected and analysed. In this way we ensure that students continue to be provided with an authentic and engaging curriculum as we carefully monitor their wellbeing.

These are extraordinary times and we must live and learn so differently in order to protect the health and wellbeing of our families and communities. Kew High School is a truly connected, innovative learning community and this has placed our students in the best possible position in this new learning environment.

"A MASSIVE thanks to all the teachers for the work they do and how well they have adapted to a challenging situation. I think they are making the lessons fun but engaging (a big shout out to the teacher who dresses up to match his background)! Very impressive. I think our kids are incredibly lucky to have teachers that are as dedicated as they ones we have at KHS and who take it upon themselves to feel personally responsible for the success of their classes. I can't thank you enough!!!"

"Really appreciate the teachers' enthusiasm and support they have for the students - great work"
