Learning and Teaching

Kew High School is a professional learning community and understands that lifelong learning is essential to the development and growth of a healthy society. We aim to enable our students to enter the world beyond school ready, willing and able to make a meaningful contribution to their society. We aim to extend them to reach their full potential so they are equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, competencies and dispositions to face their future with confidence.

At Kew High School we believe that everyone can learn given the right conditions. Our thinking is underpinned by the Principles of Learning and Teaching (PoLT) which describe that we learn best in environments which are supportive and productive; which promote independence, interdependence and motivation; which reflect our needs, backgrounds, perspectives and interests; which challenge and support us to develop deep levels of thinking and application; which have assessment practices which are integral to the learning and teaching and which provide opportunities to connect with communities and practice beyond the classroom.

Kew High School is in a constant cycle of review, research, planning and implementation to ensure we are at the cutting edge of educational thinking.  Staff collaborate as learning partners to learn and grow together.
