Mike Motivates Year 9 Students - 19/10

Oct 19 Dressup and Yr9 Guest Speaker

This week Mike Spears, a former NBA and NBL basketball player, visited Kew High School and spoke with the year 9 students about success and how to best achieve it. Mike posed the following questions to students:

    • What are your dreams and what does success mean to you?
    • If you come to a hurdle, do you stop or jump over it?
    • If you turn up on match day without doing any training do you expect to win?

Mike also talked about the importance of having a dream, as it provides a purpose and focus for studies. Choice also plays a critical role in the achievement of success, with Mike emphasising the importance of making the right choices – choosing the right path for you, rather than simply following the crowd.

Students will further discuss success and the many forms it can take in the coming week in the Connect program.
